| TELEPHONE SERVICE Worcester County telephone service is provided primarily by Verizon. However, there are alternatives to the conventional phone service Verizon offers. My personal choice is voip service. This is a new technology that uses your high speed Internet (cable or DSL) to transmit and receive voice signals. I have used voip service for over 5 months and have had very few problems. With telephone service starting at $24.95 (including U.S. & Canada long distance), and no taxes or government charges, it is hard not to switch to voip services. | CELLULAR SERVICE Worcester County is considered a rural area so most cell phone service is spotty the further you get away from major highways. I personally use Verizon Wireless and I have had no problems with reception or dropped calls. If a cell phone is an important tool in your daily life I must recommend Verizon Wireless. For the teens in your life I recommend Boost Mobile. Boost Mobile is Nextel's pay as you go cellular service. Nextel service has it's dead zones like most, but if it works in your neighborhood your teen will love it. Phone calls cost 20 cents a minute from 6am to 9pm and 10 cents a minute nights and weekends. The driving force behind my recommendation is Boost's web service. While not up to the quality adults are used to it is great for teens and preteens. There is games, music, Hotmail, Instant Messenger, and many other attractions for teens. For 20 cents your teenager can play all day with no airtime charges. This is the best deal I have found for mobile phone service. I suggest you buy a Boost phone from a retailer that accepts returns (Wal Mart, Best Buy). Try it in your neighborhood and if it receives a good signal you will have one excited teen. If it doesn't work simply return it and try a different provider. |
