Bus Fare Increase

As of Monday, February 28, 2011 riding the bus in Ocean City is going to cost you 33 percent more. That's right, a 33% increase! Don't you wish you could increase your income by a third. Well our Mayor and City Council have decided that more traffic during the summer is a small price to pay to help balance the books.

 

The daily rate to ride the bus will be $3, compared to the present $2. Of course in their infinite wisdom they justify this by also adding a $1 per boarding charge if you are only going one way. I'm sure the thinking is that people who live in town will still only pay $2 per day to get to and from work. Forget shopping trips or going out to dinner, only tourists do that. Yeah..right! Oh, I forgot to mention that to appease the West Ocean City businesses it is still only $1 to ride the bus from the West Ocean City Park N Ride lot.
