My family moved to Berlin, MD in 2005. After arriving we found locating the vital information needed to establish ourselves was a scattered monster of website after website of partial information. The electric company for Berlin was different than every other area, the cable company for Ocean pines was different than any other area, etc., etc. Having visited Ocean City, MD since 1952 and having owned a Condo in Ocean City I thought the transition would be simple. How wrong could I have been.

 

After finally navigating and compiling all of the information needed to set up our household it occured to me that I probably wasn't the only one with questions. Hence the establishment of oclocals.net Once we got started it became apparent that it wasn't only people moving into the area that was frustrated but those who already lived here wanted information from one location as well. Within a year of living here and answering questions from one visitor after another we decided to expand oclocals to include information those of us who live here take for granted. Basic questions such as "where can I park?" or "where is a good seafood restaurant?' were not being addressed by any one website or at any one location.

 

Since we live in an age of electronic information it only seems normal to have as much information as possible at one website.
